Can an XJ D35 go into a TJ? How hard is it to move the coil spring mounts?

Anyone got a 3:73 for a TJ?
Nason
If you're going to move coil spring and control arms mounts, move them to an axle worth installing.

Ford 8.8s are commonly available with 3.73s.

Here's the story 97 TJ, recently repaired frame rot. 150k miles. Owned by young guy that works at the local hardware store. (not alot of $$). Thought he had a noise in the tranny or the clutch. I checked and it's definately in the rear end. It might be loose control arms, but sounds more like a ring and pinion noise to me.

What would you do to repair it?
Nason
Toss a used TJ axle in it.
SCF
wut kind of noise? Is it under load, over a bump, just after load release, in a box, with a fox?

I could not hear it at a stop, I could not hear it like a pop.
It sounded like a decent clunk, a noise that sounded "center chunk".
Release the clutch for first or second, the noise is there so I reckon.
In third or more, I did not check, but know its there sure as heck.

Suspension parts it sure could be, but the noise ain't tinny enough for me.
Ring and pinion clunk clunk clunk, I'm sure happy there's no skunk.
Remove the driveshaft is what I said, then you'll get it in your head.
For all the boys and all the Jeeps, this one's near being put to sleep!

Got a line on any? It's a 4.0l ax-15. I'm guessing 3.73s.

Should be a Dana 35 with 3.07s, which you can't swing a dead cat without hitting.
