MARCH EMA HAPPENINGS IN YORK COUNTY
Meeting: Wednesday, March 21, 2007
Time: 19:00 to 21:00
Location: Alfred EMA EOC
5 Swetts Bridge Road, Alfred
Here it is March already and we are looking forward to the spring and have already set our clocks ahead one hour! We’ve even had a taste of some nice warm temperatures which may create flooding in some areas.
For this meeting, we have two speakers. One speaker is Captain Frank Batchelder from the Air Fire Rescue Unit of the Portland Fire Department. He will be presenting what is expected of the York County communities during a major incident at the Portland jetport. He will also tell us how we may be involved. Captain Batchelder will also let us know what the Air Fire Rescue Unit can bring for support to York County. Our second speaker will be Captain Marc Brunelle of the Maine Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. He will be discussing what assets are available to York County during major incidents. We look forward to both of these speakers as they will bring information to us we did not have before. There should be some very good discussions from both presentations.
Let this newsletter serve as a reminder for the Public Officials Conference, which will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Village by the Sea in Wells. The IAEM (International Association of Emergency Managers) President, Mike Selves will be speaking at the conference. Mr. Selves is from Kansas and we are very pleased he has accepted to present for us. Let your public officials know now and save the date.
Other conferences and trainings coming up are:
