I know the feeling... It only took me a short 7 yrs to do mine!!! It was terrible.. 7 yrs no Jeep... and I didn't have the wonderful support of NEWJO then either... I was out there struggling on my own... through Jeep withdrawl and everything...
People today now have a much easier time, thanks to the 12
step point support programs offered in NEWJO!!!

I have a lot of work to do to get it to a newjo event. With winter coming it is probably going to go on hold. No heat means no working. If I had a place closer to hillsboro to work on it I could get it done fairly quickly.
I did find out something nice this weekend, the top I thought was just a an summer top, turned out to be a winter top, could even be orginal, needs a little patching but is in pretty good shape.

The picture makes it look better than it is. The fenders are dented and the paint is not even close to perfect. That just means I get to use it without having to worry about the paint, or adding a little dent to the fender. However the tubs is real nice and solid now.

Looks great just the way it is. Your all set for the foliage run in a couple weeks up the coast. You won't need those headlights, we'll be back before dark!

I have just been sitting thinking about the m38. It has not been touched since my last post about it. Still sitting up in colebrook. I might get to look at it, and maybe even fire the engine when I go up for xmass. I really would like it done for this summer but I dont know if that is going to happen or not.

I have a reproduction winch frame of the orginal military one being made right now. It will be nice to have a good winch pto winch mount for my jeep, the one I have is not good at all. I am going north today for a couple of days and plan on mounting my military radio. This any luck she will be done this spring.
List of things left
finsih paint (windshield frame, rims, and the fenders need sanding and repaint, along with bolt in floor sections)
Windshield
Mount NDTs
Fisnish Wiring
Check all nuts and bolts for Tightness
and then Drive.

Started the jeep today. Had is outside idling while I was looking for something. Turned around and the antifreeze was coming out the over flow. I am thinking bad raditor cap right now. Hope it is nothing else. I got the radio wired enough to test it, makes lots of noise but since no one up here has another one I cant really test it.

Ok from reading my own posts, I cant spell to save my life.
I have the last week in April, first week of May off. My plan is to registar the m38 before heading north, painting the small parts still left to paint. finish the wiring, installing rebuilt fuel pump, check all the bolts, get new windshield, and drive. She wont be fully finished but I need to get her on the road. I cant paint very well anyways and will run her for a year or two with the current paint then find someone that can paint to repaint her.

I will update pics next weekend. I plan on going up friday night after my staff meeting. then I plan on painting the windshield frame, rims, getting tubes, finish wiring, mount headlights, make sure everything is tight and has oil, then drive. If i get it done by tuesday I will be happy. I need a windshield as well but I will hopefully get that done tuesday morning.

I just installed the exhaust saturday.
I think I might have found my problem and am kicking myself for this. I should have had the tank boiled out but didnt, pullws our the sender and pick up, what a mess. tonight I went for a short ride, stalled out wouldnt restart, my brother and I noticed it was not getting fuel, bought more gass and fixed problem, tank was not empty, I am sending the tank out tommroow to get cleaned and will buy some new parts. I think the filter was so pluged it could not keep up with fuel demand. when I took the pickup out with the filter it drained very slowly.

The current fuel blend is known to loosen up deposits left behind that normally wouldn't be an issue.
Good luck
