cooldge road and rt 31 had some flooded areas and washouts

The water was going across coolidge road pretty fast from the looks of it and there were a bunch of people hanging around watching.

Did anyone get back up to the homestead this morning?
mudhen
on 31 north last night I encountered one area where the road was flooded. there were cones at the limits but the twisty road kept me from seeing it in time to slow down....it was pretty fun but only because there were no oncoming cars for me to hit as I went surfing.

Yup I did that with a trailer in tow...... Very Interesting

There are pictures up on WMUR, one showing the bridge washed out on Cooledge Road. Lots of other dramatic photos, as well. The Contoocook River is currently flooding out many stores and properties along West Main in Hillsboro. It's raging under the bridge like I have never seen it, it's very angry today.

EDIT: My mistake, it was Sleeper Road.

24 hrs I have been out with the fire dept for roads. Almost lost one of our guys in a bridge on long pond road last night. Lost every road in town here. I hope everyone made it home safe last night and didn't get flooded out too bad. Had a good time judging even with all the mud and water.
Well I've been up since 7:30 yesterday morning and I'm going to take a shower and go to bed. Thanks again everyone

12 Hours in the DUmp Truck today!

two dump trucks, and 12 hours equall 87 loads of fill needed to get the road passable. the town will be very busy for some time getting the town back in order.

The Good news is there are some kick but class VI roads in the area now!

Yea, everyone pretty much got out just in time. 1000' of Lovell mountain road was gone this morning. Rt.31 was under water. Part of water street was gone, a bridge on east Washington was gone, Beard road was under 5' of water and bridges are gone. It was pretty bad.
Some of us finally made it out over the mountain to Half Moon Pond Road to Rt.31 towards Goshen to Rt. 10 in Newport to Rt.103 to Sunapee to Rt. 89. Took an extra hour and a half to get home once we were able to leave at about 4:00.
I got some awesome pictures.

From SereneHaven on Sunday monring we only had to traverse one flooded area which was about 2 feet deep to get out to Hillsboro. The rest of the ride was OK, and seeing the swollen water was really something... That river behind Tooky was cruising, Perkins Pond in Weare was way full and our own Merrimack is up about 10-12 feet this AM! Yeow!!! Expected to crest today, I think.,.,.

Jebus! Glad we left in time.

I was one of those lucky soles to get stuck at the Homestead on Sunday thru Monday. I got a chance to take some Storm dammage pictures from all over Washington and the surrounding areas. I had a great time and I want to thank Newjo for the Dry safe place to call home for our stay on the Island of Washington NH. Now to the Pics

Mikey
you could have left - there were no problems getting to 89 from the Homestead.

We did not know this until late sunday evening and at that point why leave. I think it would be ok for someone that was heading north but we needed to head south. We also had fun cleaning up the Homestead, and the Night Class 6 run we did on Sunday night when we went to show Molly how to get to the Homestead from the general store. All said we had a blast.

That's a keeper. laugh.gif

I called when we got through, you didn't get the message?

Just as well, sounds like you had fun anyway.

Well any way you look at it I was not getting out of their so they stuck around to hang out with us. We got most of the cleanup done so Stephen should have little to do. All the Ez ups were takend down and the trails were cleared of caution tape and the last banner. The sheets were washed and beds made as well as the homestead thoroughly cleaned.
And we had all that lasagna to eat so why not stay. laugh.gif

And Pie!
Yea Pete - thanks for the call about the roads.
We didn't get very motivated on Sunday cleaning up so besides being able to hang out for a little longer, we also stayed to get more stuff done on Monday.
Besides, you couldn't get a better excuse to call into work than to tell your boss to "turn on the news!"

we wanted to wheel Lovell mtn road after we saw it washed out, but they had to get it fixed for access to the gravel pit.
