Full Version: Calling All Musicians!

Rusty the Scoob
I've been asked to provide music at Noon for TDR, Sat Oct 8th http://tdr.newjo.org/ In case you haven't heard.

I'll bring my PA, provide a house band of some sort, I can always rely on my regular band, Undercover, but I wanted to see what kind of interest there is in a Jam session. I think it would be more fun for everybody to give people a chance to bring an axe and play. If we have enough interest I may consider forming a NEOW house band instead of bringing my regular guys...

Post up in this thread on NEOW if you're interested, if you'll be there that day, and what you play.

No firm commitment necessary, just an approximate headcount would be nice. biggthumpup.gif

My son keeps asking me to blow the dust off my bass guitar. Certainly wouldn't be ready for a public appearance! (I have visions of me trying to pull on my old pair of tye dyed jeans!)

John, you're a bass player? biggthumpup.gif eusa_dance.gif eusa_dance.gif

Poppy - sounds good!

I figured I'd bring a P-bass or two, which ever ones are playing best at the time, they're all a bit finicky with the weather... and my strat: US made 62 reissue with a set of Texas Specials... eusa_think.gif that way everyone who doesn't bring their own can have something familiar to play and I won't be putting my #1 bass in the hands of strangers....

I used to play guitar, up until about 10 years ago.

My local radio station had a contest. "See Clapton, Play like Clapton". Grand prize being 2 tickets to see Clapton, a new electric guitar, and a month of lessons.

Long story short, I won! eusa_dance.gif

So, I couldn't get the new guitar right away, so I went digging, and pulled out my old Yamaha that I had to rewire. Dusted it off, put some new strings on it, and for the last 3 weeks, have been playing almost daily, and loving it. I'm amazed by how much is coming back to me, and how quickly...it's like the fingers never forgot. smile.gif

Just yesterday I got the certificate so I can go pick up my new guitar. Will probably head up tonight and go get it. smile.gif Really anxious!

Who knows, maybe by October... biggrin.gif

Congrats, man, that's a good score! PM me if you want any tips or advice, I've been teaching some guitar lessons lately and it really does come back fast, not having played much 6 string guitar the past few years myself...

Bumping this back to the top. I gotta get serious about this or I'll have to bring the regular band... ph34r.gif
