Full Version: Trail rating....how do you rate trails?

Having a modified vehicle it has always been hard for me to guage the rating of a trail. Below is a general guideline I use for rating trails and when I rate one it is typically from observing other vehicles. By no means is this an end all system because there are so many other variables like weather and driver skill.

STOCK- a typical stock vehicle should be able to make it through, may need
some help in spots. Gentle scenic ride with a few obstacles.

SLIGHTLY MODIFIED- typically good for a near stock vehicle with 30-32 inch tires
and minimal modifications

MODERATE- good for a vehicle with 33s and mild lift and minimal mods

MODIFIED- 35s lift and some type of traction device. 33s can hang with 2
lockers and winch but will have a hard time

EXTREME- The name says it all. Expect winching, body damage, and trail breakage.

How do you rate trails?

Anything I missed?

What do you think?

An example of a moderate trail would be Chicken Soup

An example of a modified trail would be Hatching Egg
