Ok, actual events:
Water pressure issues for a day, took it easy on the demand. Water pressure disappears Friday evening. Call Capital Well, as they have helped me in the past. Guy comes over, does some initial investigation. Then comes back on Saturday morning and yanks the pump, checks the pressure on the line, and various other checks/balances/etc.
Well is 122 ft, pump is 1/2 horse 10gpm, still working just fine (multimeter checks), nasty looking sediment in and round the pump. Pump was hung around 110 ft. Friday night water was 100' below ground level, Sat morning level was 17' below ground. Running water for 15mins, back down to 100'.
they are going to return with a drill rig to go deeper, and install new pump. I'm figuring probably around $6k by the time I'm done.
Lovely.

We've been seeing a bunch of low water related issues this summer... sorry Fred
$1600 sound right for a well pump?
That's JUST the pump by the way.

Seems high considering it's so shallow...
"project manager" is showing up at 4 pm monday.
They want to go down another 100 ft or so, and install a new pump. Say the truck they use is $2k just to show up, let alone everything else.

If they are drilling deeper, then the price is more appropriate. But for a pump install (200ft is still shallow) it is pretty expensive...

My dad recently paid $1800 for a new 3/4 hp pump at 450'.
Really getting sick and friggin tired of these huge damned bills hitting me every year.
Past three years:
Dogs: $2000
Soobiedoo: $1500
JK: $1000
Heater: $2500
Well: $6000
Therapy: $80/keg
Capital wants $5-6K for a new 300ft well. Ugh. Calling Skillings for a 2nd opinion.

Whoah. Thanks!
Had called them yesterday, pretty much told me they were a month out. NFW I can live like this for a month. Well *I* could, just me being single, but no way whole family can.
Going with Capital, though I'm not sure they MAKE enough of the slippery stuff to make it feel any better.

Well, they make enough beer each day to help you forget. For a little while.

Make sure to add $80 for ANOTHER keg and it will ease the pain of the larger amount.

too bad it's not a dug well, you could bury some of that sheet in your yahd.
240' 12gpm $6k with my rental of a mini excavator. They wanted $500 for excavation. I rented one for $300 and had my way with my lawn.
